Is this Women Empowerment?
Let's talk about DAMINI rape case, it was the incident which jolted the whole country. But still these things are not halting. Due to these Instances almost every guardian get tensed for their daughters, lest the next victim of this incident may not be their beloved. Sometimes victim attempts suicide. Is it the solution for this problem??
Everyday in our newspaper or on television we see or hear about these cases, that's why these news don't get proper attention, or people don't take it seriously. May be the reason behind it is that this male dominating society don't accept women to stand equally to them. Although our government has developed women helpline and women's police station for their security purpose. But tell me is it able to stop all these things??
There are some questions which knocks everyday on every women's mind. These are :-
(1) will these incidents totally end up any day?
(2) How long women have to tolerate these things?
(3) No law is there to stop these non senses?
(4) Why victims don't get justice?
Every women is waiting in the hope of that day, when the whole society will understand the real meaning of "WOMEN EMPOWERMENT". That's all...

DTEA President Mr. Khandelwal and Secretary Mr. Chadha said “We the members of DTEA are working hard to bring back the lost reputation of our country because of some unfortunate rape incidences that took place in the last two years. We will fight back to bring the lost reputation of our country by way of conducting such social campaigns to instill the confidence and weed out the fear from their minds.
The volunteers and representatives of DTEA was seen holding banners, placards and standees displaying messages directed towards spreading a positive word among foreign tourists - a very peaceful approach to tell the world that despite of some unfortunate incidents that happened in the country, India still holds the values embedded in their culture. Atithi Devo Bhava – is still a practice and a value deep rooted in our tradition.
The campaign is supported by some leading NGOs, volunteers and members. The campaign was carried out last year as well with a similar approach as a part of DTEA’s efforts to rectify the image of India across the globe. The campaign was much appreciated by foreign tourists.
DTEA is planning to conduct the campaign in Non-ASI monuments as well such as Jama Masjid, Birla Mandir, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and Dilli Haat, places which are visited by more tourists.
As per the World Economic Forum's T&T Competitiveness Report 2013, India ranks 74 amongst 140 global economies on safety and security parameters and there is a severe need of the improvement of country's ranking. This campaign provides a huge scope for the promotion of foreign tourism in India through filtering the outlook of the country. Small efforts at a large scale can bring up great change. A campaign like this not only fortifies the image of our country, but can also help change the statistics of our economy by encouraging tourism. Hence, the support of the government, media and local organizations becomes imperative for the success of this social campaign. Higher exposure will lead to higher benefits, for the nation and for its people.

Save Women Save nation
The creator of human beings, naturally, is women. She bears the pain of childbirth and induces a life to a newly formed creature. Without women there will be no life existence on earth. As in Milton's paradise lost women are formed by the backbone of men (Eve is a female form created by God with the help of Adam's ribs). Backbone as the name suggests, is the most important part of human's life as it gives rigidity, support and strength. Imagine a life without backbone and the life without the creator, particularly, women will be inconceivable.
Immediately the question arises are women safe in Delhi, not only in this, but in the whole world? No, Women aren't getting the respect and opportunity as that of men. They are ill-treated, harassed, abused and sometimes, also raped by the brutal men. Mostly, the daily crimes are, increasing, always happened only on innocent girls and women. With these regular news and bulletins, people used to feel really sympathetic towards the victim and aggressive on accused. But this is not the case since when the civilization started; women were always treated as inferior and subservient against the men. Their voices are always suppressed and confidence trampled for societal norms and restrictions. They are forced to hide their emotions and ambitions against harsh customs and traditions.
By the way, who are we to change the political scenario, policies and the traditional state of women? We don't have the power, money and the position. But one thing we have, is the right and courage. The power is to determine, to do anything and everything, no matter what the situation occurs and form. The gap of inequality is reduced, but still there is some situation where men tortured the opposite sex. With a reduction in cases of dowry deaths and girl child marriages, nowadays, men tried to sexually harass the women and these types of crimes are increasing day by day.
Women are abused, threatened and harassed while travelling in public transportation, offices, as well as in their own houses. After the brutal gang rape of paramedical student on 16th December 2012, this incident outraged the whole nation, many protests, laws and verdicts enforced, but the result is still awaited. Even the old cases which are pending for 5-10 years were not given justice till date. Due to this slow process of judgement, many victims died of slow death, some of their voices were suppressed or some of them bid silent with money and property.
Women were always compromised by the circumstances and the situations. In case of family respect, societal norms and struggle for life, they have to veil their pain and heart. They tolerate each time making both parents and in laws happy and respectful in the society. The violence occurred in women, psychologically, are reasoned as greedy and lusty means of sex, illicit relationship, termed women as a commodity, pornography and sexual content in films. These things divert the minds of men and called the opposite sex in derogatory and disrespectful terms, worst than a "commoner". They are brutal beasts, who are spreading like an epidemic in our society.
Enforcing the laws, verdicts and recommendation won't change the condition of women. They are afraid of the whole community of men and this fear gradually squeezes out all her confidence and courage. But we people can unitedly procure and established the new status for women in a unique form.
Firstly, bringing awareness and stop domestic violence can serve them to promote their voice against torture. Secondly, punishing the accused in fast track courts or hanging them as soon as possible may create a sigh of relief to the victims. Thirdly, Charge heavy penalty and jail trials for the convicts who sexually harassed the women. Fourthly, prostitution and brothel should be legalized so that no innocent being be trapped into the lusty eyes of men. Fifthly, Genuine compassion and sympathy to be ushered towards the victim and girls. Sixthly, changing the scenario of male dominant society to female-male society. Seventhly, bring equality in providing education, domestic chores, professionalism between men and women. Next, giving rights, enforcements and responsibilities to women. Then, special treatment and care for victims in hospitals and medical centers. And last, 24X7 police protection and security assurance on every path and place for women and men, both.
The time had come to do a tit for tat, good for good and bad for bad. No mercy for the accused. Even if the policy makers failed to give justice, women should raise her voice and fight for justice in her terms. Now we have to think beyond the tolerance and the weaknesses of the situation. In this way, we can save the women and the nation too.

MEDIA INTERVENTION IN PROMOTING HUMANITARIAN AGENCIES
Timely media intervention about impending disasters can contribute to appropriate individual and community action which can be seen during evacuation and survival of people in post disaster period. Thus, useful and reliable information disseminated through the media is an important instrument for balancing the possible effects of disasters and hazards. The greatest challenges for humanitarian agencies are efficiency, effectiveness and the extremely complex political, economic and social side effects associated with them.
Media can operate in different modes; they can follow and also lead. They have certain characteristics that make them powerful instrument for disaster communication. It provides quick access to a large number of people located at different places, provide problems faced by the victims, and mobilize public opinions for humanitarian assistance. Furthermore, Media ethics becomes an important aspect of publishing and reporting of information during any disaster event. It assists media what to disclose and what not. It determines choosing the right and the best alternatives.
Media tries to bridge the critical gap in policy and pattern of humanitarian agencies, while playing up the core priorities and judgments. It can ensure with sustainability and execution of training modules, manuals, codes, plans, mock drills and focused attention to awareness, generating campaigns, institutionalization of disaster committees and establishment of techno-legal regimes.
Recognizing the awareness around the vulnerability induces a mindset of disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness. Media combines its strategic demonstration of relief activities with development work of organizations to strengthen the capacity of relief organizations and through them the capacity of the individual.
Particular emphasis should be placed on those countries where vast population is illiterate, unaware and economically/geographically resistant to such risks. The ultimate goal is to make prevention and mitigation a part of regular life. Media campaigns need to be constituted which may aim at changing people’s perception of natural hazards and to inculcate safety measures.
Aside from the usage of print and broadcasting media, it is projected to utilize places with social gatherings and presenting mock drills, drama, action, and so forth, to make people aware of these vulnerabilities and promote the creation of a safe living environment. This will help the relief organization to fasten the execution of strategic plans and may focus on other areas too.
Disasters like Orissa cyclone, Bhuj earthquake, Uttarakhand flood, etc., will not be allowed to reoccur in our country at least not at the cost, which we paid in terms of human lives and attribute. Only we need to communicate with others and make their own groups/communities to look after each area and present a broad view of mitigation processes. And this will help our crucial humanitarian agencies whose main motive is to bring awareness and balance coordination world-wide.
